the softest suede in your own size, with bespoke shoe designer Rose Choules in two
days!
Having been named the 2011 winner of the Footwear Friends Designer Award,
designer Rose Choules successfully launched the Rose Choules Moccasin Atelier in Selfridges: an exclusive special
for the Christmas season, with moccasins available both as custom orders and
from a limited ready-to-wear selection. Now snap a rare chance to make
moccasins in Rose's style, exclusively at Prescott & Mackay.
You will focus on the traditional moccasin construction, hand stitched techniques, using sewing machines and making your own beautiful fabric insoles.
Course outline:
Day 1: Moccasin patterns and components.
- Understanding the pattern making process.
- Using patterns to cut leathers and component materials.
- Preparing materials for construction: hole punching, marking and skiving.
- Making insoles with fabric of choice.
- Stitching insoles using a sewing machine.
Day 2: Assembling, hand stitching and finishing the moccasin.
- Demonstration of how to attach the sole in different moccasin styles.
- Hand stitching the heels.
- Making the collar using a sewing machine.
- Techniques used to hand stitching the toes.
- Force lasting the moccasins and finishing.
The finished moccasin will be for indoor use only, but the technique of how to attach an additional leather sole will be outlined during the class.
Before attending the class, you will choose from a selection of a new Autumn Season suedes for the shoe upper and fabrics for the sock. All the material is sourced in England and will be available to select from during the session. Of course, feel free to bring your own new or vintage fabric for socks to add personal touch!

- Cotton fabric 35 x 35 cm
- Sharp fabric scissors
- Notebook and pen
